Frances Bean Cobain turns 24 on August 18, and in her two decades on Earth, the daughter of Nirvana frontman Kurt Cobain hasn’t shown much desire in launching a music career. Now, though, she’s broken her musical silence with a quick cover of “The Middle” by Jimmy Eat World that she posted on Instagram.

In the video, she wears a Fred Flintstone t-shirt, then the clip cuts to a 4-second video that appears to have originally been posted on Snapchat, of her singing part of the song’s chorus and playing acoustic guitar. Her mother, Courtney Love, reposted the video on Instagram and wrote, “I know your father is very proud of this as am I baby, I love you to the moon and back #proudmommy.”

Cobain was previously featured in Evelyn Evelyn, a 2010 album by The Dresden Dolls’ Amanda Palmer, but the album included vocal contributions from many people and Palmer has deemed Cobain’s indistinguishable from those of anybody else: “There was a minor tabloid blow-up while i was away announcing the album features the ‘singing debut of frances bean cobain.’ oh good god. if you’re looking for that, wrong record. everybody was just having fun, and there’s almost no way to distinguish who’s singing what.”

Listen to Cobain’s brief rendition of “The Middle” below.
