Video: Damon Albarn - "Lonely Press Play"

Watch Damon Albarn's new video for "Lonely Press Play" off his upcoming solo album "Everyday Robots."

As Damon Albarn gears up to release his first ever solo album, Everyday Robots, this spring, he’s debuted the studio version of a song he’d previously played acoustically at Sundance and for BBC Radio 2 with the visuals for “Lonely Press Play.” Unlike earlier versions, it’s not as delicate, adding more varied textures with clunky instrumentals and random sounds, as well as some soft piano, violin, and horn to give it an exquisite jazz touch. The video plays like a visual diary of both Albarn’s travel experiences and the goings on of his mind, capturing the song’s tone effortlessly.

In other Albarn news, he recently told Rolling Stone that though he and his Blur bandmates have recorded new material, there are currently no plans to follow up their 2003 release Think Tank due to not having the time to finish a full album. He said the same of his critically acclaimed side project Gorillaz, explaining that because he’s responsible for all the recording, it’s “complicated.” He did say, however, that he’ll play songs from both Blur and Gorillaz on his upcoming solo tour.
