Kanye West Just Broke a Major Michael Jackson Chart Record

Monday’s Billboard charts revealed that DJ Khaled had scored his first No. 1 album, but there was also good news for Kanye West and ScHoolboy Q. The TDE rapper’s “THat Part,” which features Kanye West, broke into the top 40, marking Q’s second top 40 single after 2014’s “Studio” with BJ The Chicago Kid.

The movement of “THat Part” into the top 40 is even bigger news for Kanye West, as it becomes his 40th top 40 hit. He now sits tenth in the all-time list for most top 40 hits by a male artist, although he is still a long way off Elvis Presley, who made a stunning 80 visits to the top 40. Lil Wayne is second with an impressive 69 top 40s to his name, while Drake, Jay Z, and Chris Brown are the other contemporary artists above Kanye.

Maybe even more interestingly is the person Kanye passed to get into the top 10—Michael Jackson. Having stated his admiration for Jackson many times, Kanye now has one more top 40s than the pop legend. Next target? Maybe his big brother Jay Z.
