Olivver is the solo alias of former The Neighbourhood drummer Bryan Sammis. His solo output is a lot more minimal than his work with The Neighbourhood, but it’s no less interesting. In the video for his latest track, “Lucy (Hurt People Hurt People),” he portrays two characters, or seemingly two sides to the same character. Or maybe its just a sly way to showcase the realities vs. the fantasies of taking drugs; it seems pretty open to interpretation.
The clever visuals to the menacing yet playful track show the contrasts between the two depictions, before resulting in a rather grim, but vaguely subtle finale. It’s as catchy as it is twisted, pretty as it is ugly. Watch the video above.
