Just last month, The xx announced their first shows in three years. Now the trio have announced more shows, with stops in Poland, Japan, and Czech Republic. While there's no North American dates just yet, it seems likely that they'll be announcing Stateside shows soon, as they've also confirmed that they've been in the studio working on their long-awaited third studio album. There's no date just yet, but it's likely it'll be arriving sometime next year.
Taking to Facebook, The xx posted, "It's been a while but you've been on our minds! We are in the studio working on our third album, it feels so good to be together making new music." To coincide with the news that they've been working on their third studio album, they added, "Meanwhile, we wanted to share a playlist of songs we've been listening to in the studio. We hope you enjoy them as much as we do!"
The playlist, which can be heard here, features tracks from Radiohead, Frank Ocean, Solange, Drake, Björk, The Cure, Alicia Keys, and Queens of the Stone Age among many others. It's been over four years since The xx's last album, Coexist, but it sounds as if they're going to deliver something special with their next album if this playlist is any indication of what has influenced the forthcoming record.
