The rise in artists embracing pop elements alongside the more outré has been slow, but fairly prominent. A lot of artists have offered their unique takes on patchwork pop, but few have managed to make it as captivating as Jamie Krasner. Her haunting sound as James K is both eskewed and in clear focus, drifting in surprising directions with hints of more familiar elements constantly. It’s not a sound that’s easy to describe, but her contorted take on singer-songwriter pop is certainly ear-catching.
