Let’s get this out of the way: Pin Tweaks is a really silly name. Their music, however, is pretty good. Appearing out of almost nowhere just over two weeks ago, the mysterious duo caught the attention of many thanks to their goofy name. Obviously a reference to David Lynch and Mark Frost’s landmark show, we’ve seemingly ended up with another Com Truise situation on our hands. Thankfully, as is the case with Com Truise, their debut track speaks louder than the name.

“Girl On the Wire” is a glowing, muffled piece of synthpop that goes against the current trend of ultra-polished acts like CHVRCHES. It’s strangely refreshing, even if it’s ever so claustrophobic sounding. It’s definitely a promising start, so here’s hoping we warm to the name some point soon.
