Earlier this year, Brett Morgen released a intimate documentary about one of rock’s biggest icons, Nirvana’s Kurt Cobain. The documentary, which was titled Montage of Heck, drew a flurry of attention back towards Nirvana and Kurt Cobain in general. While working on the documentary, Brett Morgen was given the chance to go through Cobain’s personal home recordings, and now a collection of songs from those recordings will be released later this year.

Due for release on November 13, Montage of Heck: The Home Recordings will be released on CD, digital formats, and perhaps most appropriately, cassette. It will be released on LP December 4, and all versions of the album (minus the vinyl version) will be available as a standard 13-track version as well as a 31-track deluxe edition. The album will release via Universal Music, and will be Kurt Cobain’s first ever commercially released solo album.

Montage of Heck itself will be released on both Blu-ray and DVD on November 13 also. A super deluxe Blu-Ray and DVD package will also be available and it will include the 31-track version of the album on both CD and cassette, plus 48 minutes of additional interviews as well as a 160-page book and other additional items including a movie poster and a puzzle.
