HEALTH Announce New Album 'Death Magic', Share Video for "New Coke"

L.A. noise provocateurs HEALTH have been missing in action for the most part since 2009’s vicious Get Color, only reappearing for a few one-off tracks and the Max Payne 3 soundtrack, but it looks like they’ll finally be dropping their long-awaited third studio album later this year. Entitled Death Magic, the long in production album is due for release August 7 via Loma Vista. The announcement of the album comes alongside the first single from the album, “New Coke,” which is accompanied by a spectacularly gross video directed by the band’s own John Famiglietti.

Showcasing more of their move towards an electronic-charged sound that they’ve been displaying over the past couple of years, the pounding “New Coke” is classic HEALTH despite all the shiny bells and whistles. It’s not as crazy as their previous output, but it’s just as huge and fantastic. The extreme slow motion at the end of the video may be a little hard to watch for some, but its juxtaposing ambience makes it worthwhile. The track is available as a free download in exchange for an email address here.
