Earlier this year all the way back in March, Mexican Summer and Ballroom Marfa put on the Marfa Myths festival in Marfa, Texas. During the festival Connan Mockasin and Dev Hynes of Blood Orange fame worked on a short EP called Marfa Myths 001, and it’s out now via Mexican Summer. The two have shared “Feelin’ Lovely” from the release, and it’s a gentle collaboration that makes use of their disparate styles.
Dev hangs mostly in the background, with his signature guitar tone all over the track, while New Zealand-based outsider Connan Mockasin takes top-billing. The release of the EP comes in conjunction with the announcement that Marfa Myths will be returning next March, with more information about the packed lineup here.
