Kanye West is set to receive the Visionary Award at BET Honors, an event scheduled to take place January 24. Kanye’s often discussed his vision for himself during epic rants, also commonly referred to as “visionary stream of consciousness” speeches. In July, for instance, the MC explained what he wanted in life during one of these rants. “I just wanna make something awesome,” he said at the time. “I just wanna be awesome. And I wanna hang around my awesome friends and change the fucking world.”
The Illinois rapper isn’t going to be the only honoree at the event, of course. Usher is also among the night’s honorees as he is set to receive the Musical Arts Award, according to Billboard. While the event is set to be taped in January, it won’t air until February 23. Ticket sales for the event are reportedly set to benefit National CARES Mentoring Program.
