There’s a battle brewing in the EDM scene. David Guetta, the man behind smash hits such as “Titanium” and “I Gotta Feeling,” recently revealed “This One’s For You,” an electro-tinged piece of pop that’s stirred up quite the controversy.
The official song for the Euro 2016 soccer tournament builds its momentum off of heavyset drums and edited vocal samples pitched to move up and down the scale. Diplo and DJ Snake—the minds behind “Lean On,” one of the biggest songs in recent memory—are up in arms over the structure and soundscape of Guetta’s latest offering, stating that he stole their formula and ran with it.
The two tracks’ elements admittedly resemble one another: Swedish singer Zara Larsson is to “This One’s For You” what MØ is to “Lean On.”
Diplo and Snake blasted Guetta on Twitter for the alleged thievery, calling the song “Fake Lean On.” Take a look at those screenshots below, and listen to the two songs to arrive at your own conclusion. Let us know what you think in the comments section.
