Seramic came out of the gates strong at the beginning of 2016 with debut track "People Say," which mixed an old soul with modern production techniques. An EP followed, and then a track with Parliament-Funkadelic legend Bootsy Collins ("Greg's Love"), and today we're sharing the first track from Seramic's upcoming I Got You EP.
We also now know that Marcus Foster is the man behind Seramic, but his music has little in common with the hushed folk he was making in 2011—"Same Mistakes" is a bold and funky shot to the arm.
"[It] was one of the first of a bunch of tracks that I wrote in L.A. a couple of years ago that was a new way of working for me. I worked on it with my friends Chris Stracey and Jack Glass from Bag Raiders. We built the track in the same way you would a hip-hop track, sampling my vocals and programming beats which felt very liberating and fresh. I also worked on the song with Tobias Jesso Jr who I had been introduced through friends to help finish the song. These L.A. sessions were kind of the beginning for Seramic, blending loads of influences together and not taking itself too seriously. Back in London I produced the track with one of my favourite humans, Carassius Gold who I’ve co produced the I Got You EP with.”
