Any fan of Kanye West knows that he and his mother had a very close relationship and that her passing had a profound impact on his life. His recent single “Only One” is supposed to be from the point-of-view of his mother, Donda West, speaking to him about his daughter North. If you thought that song was touching, this recently found footage will melt your heart.
In this great throwback video of Kanye and his mother, they are both seen reminiscing on some of Kanye’s old rhymes that he never recorded. Donda brings up a verse that was one of her personal favorites and proceeds to rhyme it from memory. When she slips up and forgets one the lines, Kanye says “I rhymed ‘hard’ with ‘reward?’ That’s a good rhyme right there.” Which is enough to put a smile on your face and make you laugh during an otherwise heartbreaking video.
