Lil Wayne Discusses 'Barter 6': "I Appreciate Everything About It If He's A Fan"

After hinting at it for quite some time, Lil Wayne finally released his Free Weezy Album over the weekend. After its release he called into local New Orleans radio station Q93 for an in-depth conversion about his past, present and future.
During the conversation, Weezy spoke about how his career began and how Juvenile had a crucial part in who he is today. Wayne mentioned how after each member of the Hot Boys would record their verse, sometime he would feel a bit discouraged about his own verse for sounding so different from everyone else’s. “When I come out and I probably sounded like I was from New York or somewhere I was easily discouraged when it wouldn’t relate to Stunna the way it would relate to Juve,” says Wayne. “Juve would pull me to the side and say ‘Don’t you change one word in that verse.'”
Lil Wayne went on to talk about current ongoings like his latest album, his idol Jay Z, and how he feels about Young Thug wanting to name his album Barter 6. The radio show’s host Wild Wayne brought up the fact that this situation is very similar to when Lil Wayne released his 2002 album 500 Degreez after Juvenile’s 1998 release 400 Degreez. “When we did it, we had no problem saying ‘We don’t need no Juve, this is 500 Degreez.’ When Slime came out and he said that ‘I’m naming my album that because of props’ and he such a fan,” says Wayne. He admitted that it’s a completely different approach and that he’d “have to be a monster” to not appreciate it.
