Jaden Smith Explains Why He Brought His Cut Dreads to the Met Gala

The 2017 Met Gala took place last night in New York City. As always, everyone's social media feeds were soon flooded of photos featuring the beautiful outfits of various celebrities. While most of the stars to walk the red carpet caught all of the photographers' attention with their long gowns and fitted suits, Jaden Smith captivated the crowd in a very different way.

Even when we prepare for Jaden Smith to do the unexpected, he still manages to surprise us. Last night Smith was seen walking the carpet showcasing his short new haircut while holding his recently cut dreads in his hands. He revealed his reasoning to Andre Leon Talley during an interview for Vogue. "And since I couldn't bring my sister as a date," Jaden explained. "I brought my old hair." To which Talley labeled his look "cool" and "avant-garde." 

As vague and strange as that explanation seems, it's a very Jaden response. This is definitely a look only Jaden Smith could make look cool, and he did. Check out Jaden and his unique date dancing for Vogue below.
