Drake’s climb to the top has been accelerating at a rapid pace ever since he released his latest album Views. Though Drake has been in the big leagues of the rap game for a few years now, in the past year or so we’ve seen his career be taken to new heights as he continues to reach new milestones.
Earlier this month, Drake earned his first No. 1 single on Billboard’s Hot 1oo as a solo artist with his current hit “One Dance,” featuring Kyla and Wizkid. This follows his feature on Rihanna’s previous No. 1 single “Work.”
The latest notable achievement for Drake places him at the top once again, but in different way. Spotify confirmed to Billboard today that Drake has indeed beat out Justin Bieber at the top spot, and is now the most streamed artist on the streaming service.
The success of his latest album is surely to thank for his newest achievement. When Views dropped it topped the charts at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart, with traditional sales and album streams adding up to the equivalent of 1.04 million units sold. Yet, this achievement felt inevitable when Drake was announced as the most streamed on Spotify in both the US and globally in 2015. The 6 God continues to dominate.
