IDK has always had his mind on the big picture. Unlike so many of his peers who aim for viral moments and hit singles, IDK has been strategically and creatively navigating his career in music since the beginning. In 2019, it paid off. IDK released his best album yet—Is He Real?—and announced a partnership with Warner on his new label Clue.

When we spoke with him in September of 2019, he told us about his ambitious goals, wanting to put out important music that will stand the test of time, and supporting other artists with messages to spread and things to say. Today, IDK shares more perspective, experience, and information with the world in the form of a sit-down he did at Harvard University. As part of the No Label program, IDK spoke in front of a live audience about why going to jail was one of the best things that ever happened to him, the importance of originality, and how to be productive as an up-and-coming artist.

“Coming from where I’m from, I barely even graduated high school," IDK tells us. "Fast forward to now and I’ve made something of myself. To then be able to speak at a school so prestigious for academics and tell them about things they might not know is crazy. Just shows that with the right amount of determination and perseverance you can educate yourself.”
