We're still more than a month out from the release of Hive Mind, but The Internet already have us captivated. The group's first album since 2015's Ego Death is one of the year's most anticipated releases, especially after the release of two excellent singles—"Roll (Burbank Funk)" and "Come Over."
Syd is in the director's chair for the latter's video, and she creates a bubbly, colorful world that pairs each band member with a primary color and partner. First Syd has to win over her demure neighbor with pebbles on the window and a Cusack-style declaration from the lawn. The rest of the band is introduced in orange, yellow, purple, and green, accordingly, romancing their counterparts with music, meditation, and drum machines. It's a tight, creative video that gives everyone a moment to shine—Steve Lacy and Patrick Paige II provide the video's funniest moment when the music stops over a disagreement about piercing solos.

It's going to be a special one—in the years since Ego Death, the band's members have turned out an impressive array of solo music. Steve Lacy, Patrick Paige II, Matt Martians, and Christopher Smith are no longer just the backing band for frontwoman Syd—their musical identities are pronounced and unique.
Now reunited, The Internet's sound is tighter than ever. "After making a few songs we realized that we really want to use this album to live by example and promote camaraderie amongst young black people,” Syd said in a press release. “We realized that we're the only band of our kind. And we want to really solidify ourselves...as the best.”
