Diveliner has been making music for around five years, developing his sound and approach, and now he's ready to level up. Listening through his SoundCloud you can follow the journey, from 2016's experimental beats and whispered vocals through tracks with a more rapped delivery to the heartfelt, no-holds barred singing of his new tracks like "Eyes Wide Shut" and today's release, "2 Hearts."

"Recently my sound changed a lot a lot," Diveliner explains. "I was doing shit like 'Britney,' 'ViPEAKING' and 'Twilight' before and everyone thought I was a rapper. I just wanted to be a singer but I really didn’t know how to sing." It's safe to say that Diveliner has found his voice, and it's set to be an exciting year for the L.A. based singer and producer who namechecks everyone from The Weeknd and Frank Ocean to Shlohmo and Camila Cabello as influences.

Listen to "2 Hearts" now and read an interview with Diveliner below.

What does "2 Hearts" mean to you?

I’m going thru a breakup right now. We dated for almost three years. There was a lot of back and forth but we only officially broke up like a week or so ago. It had me fucked up for a while but I’ve been realizing that I was seeing the relationship thru rose colored lenses for a long time. Red flags only look like flags when you’re in love. The line “two hearts break instead of mine” means I gave her my heart to break so in a lot of ways its not mine anymore. We fell in love young as fuck and we truly will never be those kids again. God bless you Frank.

Who are you and what can you share about yourself?

I never know what to say when people ask me this question! I’m a kid from North Hollywood. I’m sensitive as fuck and I make music because its the only thing I’m good at. I guess to give a little insight on what my life looks like these days… Woke up this morning ass naked next to some girl I met on Tinder and my manager blowing up my phone saying I need to answer some questions for this interview. On the floor next to my bed is an empty can of Steel Reserve right next to a crumpled up police report from when I got pulled over for driving unregistered and uninsured the other week. I also haven’t worn underwear in a week either cuz I’m too lazy to do laundry.

How long have you been making music? What inspired you to start?

I’ve been making music for like five years now I think. I honestly first started producing because I had just gotten out of a relationship and I was bored and sad and I had a few friends who were fucking with it. Kinda just locked myself in my dads garage and went for it. Also Shlohmo Bad Vibes. That made me wanna produce.

How would you describe your sound and who inspires you as an artist? I'm especially curious about any singers who inspire you since you have a really unique, memorable vocal style.

Recently my sound changed a lot a lot. I was doing shit like "Britney" and "ViPEAKING" and "Twilight" before and everyone thought I was a rapper. I just wanted to be a singer but I really didn’t know how to sing. As far as inspiration I think that Trilogy by The Weeknd is gonna go down as one of the most influential pieces of art ever. That shit moved me. Frank. Everything by Frank. I love Red Hot Chili Peppers, I love that energy and I’ve been listening forever. Akon, The Killers, Thug, Katy Perry, Rihanna. Sampha made me wanna learn falsetto. Kanye of course.

What else can we look out for from Diveliner this year?

More singles, more videos, a few projects. Now that I’m in a place where I like the music I’m creating more and feel more comfortable with it, I feel more comfortable releasing more. Also I’m tryna land some pop writing placements. I’ve been writing for a few people lately and its fun to me. I fucking love pop music too. Like I’ll un-ironcally sit there and listen to a whole Ariana Grande album. Its such a science making perfect music. That Camila Cabello album was hard as fuck.

Anything else you want to add or share?

Yeah. Eat more vegetables, don’t take pressed xans (or jus xans in general) and call ur loved ones more just to talk.
