Yaeji may have started out as a DJ, but 2017 was a year of change. The NYC-based artist started singing more confidently on her own songs, then adding a little rap, and now she has the music world on its ear.

Yaeji's breakout hit came in the form of "Drink I'm Sippin' On," a hypnotic single that blended Korean and English dialects with dense bass and an absolutely addictive hook. She followed it up with "raingurl" last month, a dancier cut with a video to match. Yaeji doubles as creative director for her videos, and even styles everyone who appears onscreen. All signs point to an emerging creative force in our midst, and the numbers are starting to back it up.
