In January of 2017, an 18-year-old singer/songwriter named Kailee Morgue tweeted a video featuring a preview of a song she was working on. "I apologize for my voice cracking and the unflattering angles," she said, "but here's something I'm working on." The tweet went viral, going on to generate over 45,000 retweets and almost 140,000 likes, and the clip had a similar effect on Instagram, with over 100,000 likes overnight.

In the summer of 2017, the Phoenix-born, Los Angeles-based artist signed a deal with Republic Records. This month, the now 19-year-old finally shares the full song. "Medusa" is clean pop with a dark edge, a catchy song perfect for a pre-Halloween release.

“There’s a dark contrast,” Morgue says in her artist profile for Republic. “My first name is Kailee, and it sounds bubbly. I chose Morgue, because it gives you the opposite sentiment. That feeling really comes across in the music.”
