Over the course of the last year or so, Baltimore singer Brent Faiyaz has been making a name for himself as the frontman of three-piece Sonder. Now, after appearing on GoldLink's unstoppable "Crew" and working extensively with Sonder, he's arrived with his debut solo album. Thankfully, it more than lives up to the promise of his work with others, redirecting the spotlight to him and only him.

The gorgeous album, titled Sonder Son, features production from his Sonder bandmates Dpat and Atu, but the album is all about Brent Faiyaz. The 22-year-old singer spoke with us about the album last month, explaining that his solo debut is a lot more personal than his work with Sonder. "With Sonder music, I pull a lot from what's around me," he told us. "But with the solo album I finally got an opportunity to pull from within so it's more personal, more introspective."
