Are Jaden Smith and Vampire Weekend's Ezra Koenig Making a Netflix Anime Series?

It's rumored to be coming to Netflix on September 22.

On Tuesday afternoon, Vampire Weekend's Ezra Koenig tweeted a series of illustrations alongside a caption that read "NEO YOKIO IS THE GREATEST CITY IN THE WORLD." 

The tweet thanked popular anime production studio Studio Deen, Production IG, Jaden Smith, anime director Kazuhiro Furuhashi, and a handful of others. He also tagged comedy duo Desus & Mero.

Koenig's tweet was a reply to a photo of himself hanging out with Smith in June 2015, along with the promise: "Things are bubbling in the sea beneath 14th street."

So, what are they working on? 

Based on a follow-up tweet from Koenig, which shows a short anime clip, it appears an anime series (or film) is in the works. 

Both Koenig and Smith's social media accounts link to a verified Instagram page called @neoyokio, which teases a shoreline setting for the series. One of the posts includes

 

 

With an anime series under his belt, hopefully Jaden finally has time to accomplish his goal of becoming a K Pop star in 2017.
