In January, Young Thug released a music video for "Wyclef Jean" that he didn't actually show up for.

With some clever editing from director Ryan Staake, the video was a surprise success and ended up earning Thug and production studio Pomp&Clout a VMA for "Best Editing" last night.

But no one actually told Thug about his victory.

So no one was going to tell me that I won an award??

If a tweet from Thug at 4:44 p.m. EST on Monday is anything to go on, it took a full day for him to find out about his win. Of course, this might be karma for forcing Staake and company to wait around for hours on the day of the shoot itself. I actually can't think of a better way for this story to end.

Either way, congrats to Staake and Thug on the win. It's still one of our favorite videos of the year. Revisit the clip below and read our interview with Staake about the eventful day here.
