Chicago's Stefan Ponce is a Grammy nominated producer who has worked with artists like Chance the Rapper, Childish Gambino, and Vic Mensa, but now it's time for his own solo debut album. "Super Star" is the first single, and it's a lot of fun, featuring vocals from KYLE, Micah Freeman, and theMIND, and live playing from Julian Bell and Carter Lang.

At first listen this is a funky, joyous love song, although KYLE does switch the mood up a little with the final verse. "I had produced a song for KYLE, 'Endless Summer Symphony,' after meeting him through Childish Gambino years ago," Stefan Ponce explains. "I'm grateful to have someone as talented as KYLE, who's such a good person, to hop on the song. He added such a different perspective from what we had originally."

Speaking on the song's genesis, Stefan adds "TheMIND, Julian [Bell], and I started this idea at Soundscape Studios here in Chicago. Micah [Freeman] came to Chicago to work with me on his project, and in the midst of him being here I’d drive him to his AirBnB. While doing so, I started playing him my album and he said he really liked the rough version of 'Super Star,' so I sent it to him and within a couple days he sent me his verse and it was perfect."

"Super Star" is the first single from Stefan Ponce's forthcoming debut album, The Boy Who Fell From Earth, which is set to release later this year. Listen to the track via YouTube above.
