G.Smith is a singer, producer, and visual artist based in Los Angeles. Previous single "Life Out" was supported by Zane Lowe on Beats 1 and today's release, "X," is great too. It's experimental pop music at a high level, combining edgy electronic production, chopped vocals, and a soaring chorus. Although the subject matter seems dark, there is hope in this song, as G.Smith explains:

"It's about the questions you ask when a relationship ends, but the feeling of it is more about change and how we deal with it, and the manner in which we start moving towards the life we want. That's the way I felt when I was writing it, and the driving force of the song is still the way I feel. The force at which you start to actively try to understand yourself, and what moves you, and shake off the dust of anything that doesn't. So, the lyrics cover the raw emotions of an end, but the drive and production seek to move towards a beginning."
