In the past year or more, we've come to know Aminé as a rather upbeat artist with a sharp sense of humor that he likes to include in his lyrics and music videos. However, the Portland has begun to show more of his range within the last few months. In late May, we heard Aminé connect with Kehlani for a cute duet titled "Heebiejeebies."
This week, he returns with another new single "Turf." He continues to show his versatility as he slows things down for a bit—trading quick, witty bars for a dramatic spoken word opening, and a bit of singing. Aminé briefly returns to his familiar sound for a chorus that features a subtle bounce, making "Turf" perhaps one of his most layered songs to date. The single is completed with a surprise guest appearance from R&B legend Charlie Wilson. There's no official word yet on when we can expect to hear a full album from Aminé but we can be sure that it'll be diverse and include a little something for everyone.
