The single's production, courtesy of Czure Beats, radiates beach-side warmth and neighborly goodness, but monetary opportunity and untaxed commerce are alive and well—"For a simple fee / You can get this feeling," croons lead vocalist Izo, another MA native. Lyrical subtleties aside, the track is good-natured through and through. It's no accident the song feels familial, either: Fresco and Nomz are blood brothers, Izo their cousin.
The two DJs started practicing their craft in high school after watching their father work crowds with turntables. They dedicated themselves to try and turn dad's hobby into a true calling that could pay bills, introducing original routines into sets and investing in branded gear. Such showmanship has fueled a growing audience. Beyond live curation, Fresco and Nomz act as orchestrators, spinning webs to connect producers and vocalists and then serving as quality checks or sonic project managers for whatever comes of the creative pairings.
Their respective ears prove to be strong with this latest offering. Clever, care-free, and amorphous enough to fit whatever narrative your night happens to be writing, "A Friend Indeed" deserves some summertime spotlight on latest playlists.
