Mac DeMarco has mellowed a bit since his early days pulling antics like running around on stage naked and putting drumsticks up butt (although the video is still only a quick Google search away). But this week he proved he still has some tricks up his sleeve.
Using part of the promotional budget for his forthcoming album, This Old Dog, DeMarco pranked his bandmate Jon Lent this week by purchasing a billboard with the bassist's face on it in Los Angeles. Using a candid photo of Jon along with the words "This is... Jon Lent," the ad also includes a small reference to Mac's new album.
Of course, like all of his Instagram photos, Mac took the opportunity to make the announcement of his prank with a far-too-long string of hashtags including "#lol #jonnydidntknow #jonnyknowsnow #bigjonny #jonnyuptop #jonnyontheboard #jonnysbigsurprise #heresjonny."
