Back in January, Joji told me he was planning on putting more of his attention on his serious music side (outside of his comedic projects Filthy Frank TV and Pink Guy), mentioning the possibility of a full-length Joji release as well as a live show. Now, as a part of 88Rising's Boiler Room showcase in Los Angeles, he's made good on that second promise.

During a show that included fellow 88Rising artists Rich Chigga, Keith Ape, Ronny J, Yaeji, Softest Hard (and a surprise appearance from Denzel Curry) Joji played his new single "I Don't Wanna Waste My Time" as well as some new songs from the next project—plus some "trap sounds" for the Boiler Room audience.

While the focus was on his Joji music, he did flash glimpses of the humor that's made Filthy Frank such a big hit, eventually ending the set with a cover of "Wonderwall" by Oasis. "If you hate me, you can beat the shit out of me after the show," he said after the cover. "It's fine. I'll take it. I'll fuckin' take it. I'm sorry guys."
