Record producer and former Vampire Weekend member Rostam has returned today with a new solo single, "Gwan." With his debut solo album due later this year, Rostam is looking to make an impact. Following the release of the brilliant "Gravity Don't Pull Me" last year, "Gwan" is a gorgeous track that makes very good use of Rostam's compositional expertise. Filled with grandiose strings and Rostam's tender vocals, "Gwan" is a promising indication of what to expect from that upcoming solo debut.

It's been over a year since Rostam first announced that he'd be leaving Vampire Weekend, and "Gwan" definitely lessens the sting a bit, promising a vibrant solo career to come. "Gwan" was previously premiered on KCRW, but the studio version is accompanied by a slow-motion video directed by Greg Brunkalla. In a statement, Rostam said of the video, "I've had experiences where my life will try to tell me something in a dream, and sometimes it's something I'm not ready to hear. I think maybe this song is about trying to listen to what your subconscious mind is trying to say to you."

Look out for Rostam's debut album later this year, and watch the video for "Gwan" above.
