With a sound that fans of Travis Scott can appreciate, Nguvo could break through in America.

For many people, rap is still very much about where you're from, but on the internet is where many of the most interesting exist. Swedish rapper Nguvo isn't particularly concerned with his location, despite the coldness defining him, and that's mostly because of how easily he can connect with the rest of the world. Inspired by sounds from both North America and Africa, Nguvo is less interested in where's he's from and more interested in where he'll go.

Nguvo released his debut EP last year, and with it he's proved that he's got a sound that's ready for American audiences. Produced by Ian Boom, who's becoming the go-to producer for an increasing number of rising Scandinavian artists, Nguvo's Euphoria is shaped by Sweden's cold without being defined by it. With a sound that fans of Travis Scott's  pop-tinged, melodic rap will appreciate, Nguvo is definitely on to something.

Could you tell me a little bit about yourself?

I'm Nguvo the graveyard trapper.

How is the hip-hop scene in Sweden?

Boring, not enough sauce basically. Luckily enough we live in the future and someone invented the internet some years ago.

While there's elements of American rap in your music, did anything else influence your sound?

Africa.

Have you made a conscious effort up until this point to remain pretty low-key on social media?

Yeah I ain't about all that at the moment. Follow me on Spotify.

Your debut EP has a very cohesive sound thanks to Ian Boom's production. How did you two link up?

That's the brother right there. Fever World baby. We linked up through the internet when he was out in Cali and started making tracks when he came back to Sweden. Since then we been 'bout that fuego.

Is there anyone else you see yourself working with in the future?

Me and [Icelandic rapper] GKR are about to flood the world with some Scandinavian ice fire very soon, that'll be cold. Also it would be dope to do something with Shake from the 070 crew, she's been putting out some really dope stuff lately.

What do you have planned for the rest of 2017?

Except for the obvious it would be dope to visit Africa.
