On the eve of the inauguration of Donald Trump, Arcade Fire have returned with a politically-charged new song, "I Give You Power."

"It's never been more important that we stick together & take care of each other," the band tweeted along with the release of the song, which features legendary singer Mavis Staples.

The track (which is not expected to appear on their next album) pairs a gritty, synth-heavy backbone with a Win Butler-led chorus that chants, "I give you power, but now I gotta be free / I give you power, but now I say / I give you power, I can take it away."

The group has announced that all proceeds from the single will go to The American Civil Liberties Union, "a nonprofit, nonpartisan, legal and advocacy organization devoted to protecting the basic civil liberties of everyone in America." Listen via Tidal below (the stream is available for subscribers and non-subscribers alike).
