UPDATE 12/13: Just days after the release of "Awaken, My Love," sale predictions were already landing Childish Gambino's latest album at the No. 1 spot. Today, the official numbers have been shared. Gambino earned his highest debut with his third studio album.

According to to Nielsen SoundScan, "Awaken, My Love" debuted with 101,000 units total consumption. The new also album finds itself at #1 on Billboard's R&B chart, #2 on the R&B / Hip-Hop chart, and #5 on the Billboard 200 chart.

On Friday, Donald Glover released a new Childish Gambino album called "Awaken, My Love!". The release has quickly become one of the most polarizing projects of the year. Driven by '70s soul and funk sounds rather than the hip-hop and R&B stylistic elements Gambino is known for, the album signifies a musical evolution that is thrilling to some listeners and disappointing to others. He describes the bold new album as "an exercise in just feeling and tone."

According to HITS Daily Double, "Awaken, My Love!" is projected to move between 85,000 and 95,000 units in its opening week. The estimated first week figures fall slightly below those of his last album Because The Internet, which sold 96,000 copies in its opening week and debuted at number seven on the Billboard 200 chart. Given the current sales projection, Glover will likely debut in the top five.

Glover is projected to be outsold by The Hamilton Mixtape, a compilation of music inspired by Lin-Manuel Miranda's Broadway hit. The Hamilton Mixtape is projected to have a stellar opening week with between 190,000 and 210,000 copies sold and a debut at the top of the Billboard 200 chart.
