On October 26, singer-songwriter Sevyn Streeter was set to sing the National Anthem at a Philadelphia 76ers basketball game. Shortly before she was scheduled to perform, Sixers officials decided to cancel her appearance due to the fact that she was wearing a jersey with the words "We Matter" written across the front. Streeter took to social media to explain the cancelation to her fans, inciting massive outrage. The team has since issued an apology to the singer, and extended an invitation for her to sing at another Sixers game.

She will be wearing her "We Matter" jersey during her performance as she had originally planned. Streeter shared the news via Instagram, writing that she and the Sixers are launching a partnership to “use this an opportunity to create positive change and dialogue throughout the community.”
