Two years ago, British multi-instrumentalist and vocalist Turan impressed us with his Persistence of Memory EP. He explored a variety of styles on the EP, which was loosely based in hip-hop but anchored by experimental soundscapes rather than boom bap beats.

Now he's back, and new track "Fear" is our first taste of his upcoming EP EDEN. The dark edginess of his previous work remains, but Turan sings rather than raps over a swirling bed of guitars, percussion, and even a Fela Kuti sample.

Listen to the track then read Turan's manifesto which accompanies the song below.

Turan's "Fear" manifesto:

fear is a lie. fear is simply because you are not living with life. you're living in your mind.

your fear is always about what’s going to happen next.

that means your fear is always about that which does not exist

fear is a lie. if you are suffering the non-existential, your fear is 100% imaginary. we call that insanity.

fear is a lie. you're lost in your imagination - that's the basis of your fear.

if you were rooted in reality, there would be no fear.

fear is a liar.
