Conor and Barnaby from Fortunes first met at high school in New Zealand, but it wasn't until they moved to Melbourne, Australia that they connected on a musical level. After a house party at which Conor ended up singing D'Angelo's "Devil's Pie" a capella, Barnaby invited him to go and record, and that was the beginning of Fortunes.

The duo's chemistry is clear on "501's," with the funky production and slick vocals perfectly in sync to create a warm and inviting piece of music. “It's about when the weather is hot and you see a hot guy and he looks real good in his jeans,” explains Conor McCabe about "501s," which is a reference to Levi's 501 jeans. It may not be warm where you are right now, but this song will make you feel like you're walking down the street in midsummer, looking fresh as hell.

Check out Fortunes' two independently released projects—2015’s Hoodie EP and early 2016’s Jacket EP—on their SoundCloud here. The duo has just signed to Future Classic. Listen to "501's" below.
