The last year and a half have brought major changes to Minneapolis rapper Finding Novyon, but none of this new success has been the result of luck. Novyon has been putting in the hard work, and he’s finally reaping the benefits. Almost a year ago, Novyon crossed paths with Atlanta-based producer Sonny Digital at one of Red Bull’s studio in Los Angeles, and the two immediately linked up with hopes to create some new music.
Last month Novyon shared “I Can’t Lose,” one of the tracks Sonny Digital produced, and today he returns with yet another single they created for Red Bull Sound Select during the week they spent together. Novyon explains that their first encounter was met with a few obstacles. “The morning that we went to the studio to record, Sonny noticed that he had left his mbox at home—making him unable to use his FL STUDIO on the mixer at the studio.” However, Sonny managed to improvise with the tools in front of him to make the beat for “Been On My Job,” and the duo’s natural chemistry worked in their favor to create a collection of singles. “Out of all the songs we did you can really feel how in tune we are on this one,” says Novyon.
On “Been On My Job,” Finding Novyon stresses that although it’s still early in his career, he didn’t make it this far by accident. The effort he’s put forward has brought him here, and this new single is a fun track celebrating the journey so far.
