Since the release of 2015's Ratchet, Shamir has been busy touring alongside Years & Years and Troye Sivan. For those who have been anxious to hear new music from the 21-year-old artist, he recently teamed up with Ray-Ban for their new short film, Sheep Plays Wolf, and wrote new music for it.
Created by Roja Gashtili and Julia Lerman, the short film focuses on a "character who does the wrong things for the right reasons" and is soundtracked by Shamir's new song, "Tryna Survive." He also stars in the clip, playing the single with his band, The Walrus Whiskers.
As with many of Shamir's songs, "Tryna Survive" is addictive pop gold: upbeat percussion, catchy melodies, and, of course, Shamir's unique, lush vocals. While this will certainly keep fans satiated until he's ready to unveil the follow-up to Ratchet, one can't help but want more from Shamir with an offering like "Tryna Survive."
