Father John Misty has always been outspoken about what he thinks about the state of America, so it seems fitting that he would write a very tongue-in-cheek song titled "This is America." The new song was written for Adult Swim's animated show Brad Neely's Harg Nallin' Sclopio Peepio, and will be featured on the season finale.

Thankfully, you don't have to wait until September 18 to hear it, as Adult Swim has shared the song as well as its accompanying animated clip in advance of the finale. In it, Cartoon Father John sings about a complacent America that "die doing the dumbest shit." Based on the visuals, it seems that Father John Misty has some sort of fixation on (or paranoia over) Go-Gurt, which appears in almost every scene that ends in death.

Back in July, Father John Misty shared his new song "Real Love Baby." Unfortunately, though, the single will only exist as a one-off as opposed to being featured on a new album. The singer/songwriter also recently revealed that Chipotle offered him to cover Backstreet Boys' "I Want it That Way" for $250,000, to which he declined. Alabama Shakes’ Brittany Howard and My Morning Jacket’s Jim James ultimately took up the offer
