Blood Orange, aka Devonte Hynes, gifted his fans with his new album Freetown Sounds earlier this summer. Throughout the album Hynes manages to blend heavy topics such as police brutality over rather delicate instrumentation. As tension throughout the country began to rise once again towards the end of the summer, Hynes stopped by Conan to deliver a powerful performance and tribute to victims killed in police shootings.

This week, Hynes returned to late night television to perform "Juicy 1 - 4" on The Daily Show. Backed by a band and assisted by four backup singers, Hynes delivered another intriguing performance. After his performance, Hynes stuck around for a short bonus online interview with host Trevor Noah. During their talk, Hynes explained the inspirations behind his album and why he chooses to tackle such heavy topics within his music.

Watch the performance and his short conversation with Trevor Noah below.
