Lido has a great track record when it comes to choosing who to collaborate with. At this year’s Coachella, for example, the young producer previewed a song with none other than Jaden Smith. When it comes to his remixes, the same can definitely be said, as his signature production style—an infectiously upbeat, syrupy sound—might not be suitable for all songs, but he knows how to pick and choose. Today, Lido takes on L.A. duo THEY.’s “trap R. Kelly shit” and shares his remix of Nü Religion EP highlight, “Back It Up.”

Dubbed as the “passion flip,” Lido layers the lush vocals of his frequent collaborator, Santell, overtop his stuttering production, transforming the broody original into something a little more soulful and reminiscent of gospel music. If Lido and THEY. were to release some sort of collaborative project, this remix of “Back It Up” shows that such a venture would certainly be promising.
