MTV's Video Music Awards arrived in New York city last night, filling Madison Square Garden with pop culture superstars, industry plants, and the nieces/cousins/grandchildren of label executives everywhere. These VMAs were determined to buck award show convention—DJ Khaled filled the red carpet with cloth talk, and Keegan-Michael Key and Jordan Peele hosted, playing the parts of social media stars, complete with braces and headsets.
Performances from Rihanna, Future, and Beyoncé highlighted the event, and Twitter was aflame through it all—especially when Drake all but professed his love for Rihanna when presenting her with an award. Watch some key moments below, and check out Kanye West's VMA speech here.
