New Jersey native Angelo Mota has been rapping since he was a teenager, but in recent years he’s taken the time to dive into the world of production—providing production for fellow Immaculate Taste artist Well$—and proving that he’s equally talented in both fields. However, Mota is ready to take center stage again and put his rapping abilities on display. Last month, he released “Dawn,” the first single from his upcoming project. Today he follows the mid-temp track up with his second single “Oath.”
This new single is one of the few tracks on his new project that Mota didn’t produce himself. Instead, the track features production by Sipho the Gift, who also provides a guest verse. On their new collaboration, both Mota and Sipho aim towards an even brighter future—pledging an oath to one day take their spots at the top.
Mota explained to us that the process it took to create this track makes it feel even more special to him. “This was the first song I made over the phone with my manager Mike after his arrest,” Mota explained to us via email. “And on the day he got out the first thing he did was call me with a song idea.”
Angelo Mota and the rest of his surrounding team were able to take an unfortunate situation as a reminder to focus on their current blessings, as well as the ones to come. “This song inspired everyone involved, and also reaffirmed how determined we really are to one day take that throne.”
