The stock of New York rapper A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie has been rising since the release of Artist: The Mixtape, and now his reputation has experienced another boost: Drake performed at Madison Square Garden last night, and following performances by Roy Wood$ and dvsn, A Boogie performed a surprise opening set of his own.

During his own set, Drake also gave a shout-out to the up-and-comer, saying, “Make some noise for A Boogie, coming out here [and] killing shit tonight.” Drake also performs at MSG tonight and on August 8, so perhaps the co-sign could foreshadow an A Boogie guest appearance during Drake’s set?

A Boogie is taking all the attention in stride, and he recently told us that his ascent is a best-case scenario: “This is all I’ve ever wanted. What I got going on right now, it can’t get any better than this. Only I can be the judge of that—I can make it better or I can make it worse.”

Watch some clips from last night’s MSG show below, and read our interview with A Boogie here.
