Watch Okay Kaya's Intimate New Video for "Durer"

Okay Kaya reveals an intimate set of visuals for her single, "Durer."

With every new release, Norwegian singer/songwriter Okay Kaya has been mesmerizing listeners with her delicate yet entrancing voice, but her creativity extends beyond her music. For her latest set of visuals, Okay Kaya took part in choreographing the piece set to her latest single “Durer.”

Director of the intimate video Jovan Todorovic spoke to Nowness about the piece, giving insight to the idea and process: “I had a loose idea that revolved around a support group, and culminated in a rendition of a traditional Serbian kolo dance. Kaya and her track ‘Durer’ were the missing link that weaved everything together and gave the images purpose. In the song she sings about a certain inability to move communication forward, like a motor roaring in neutral not getting anywhere.”

Todorovic believes that a support group was the perfect match for “Durer,” saying that the way in which the support group members “hold hands becomes a sort of silent resolution in the face of this lack of communication.” He also revealed that Kaya also mixed into her choreography hints of Norwegian traditional dance moves.

Back in February, Okay Kaya released the B-side to “Durer,” a cover of Curtis Mayfield’s “Keep On Pushin’.” She’s also currently working on her debut album, which will feature the likes of Tobias Jesso Jr., Jamie xx, and others.

Recently, we asked Okay Kaya to curate a playlist featuring Chelsea Wolfe, U.S. Girl, Nina Simone, and more for those late nights when you’re home alone. Check out the playlist here, and watch the clip for “Durer” above.
