After sharing an intense but inventive video for “Concrete” last week, Crystal Castles have announced their first album without former vocalist Alice Glass, who left last year. The new vocalist, Edith Frances, appeared in the video for “Concrete,” sporting a very similar vocal style to that of Glass. The upcoming album will release next month on August 18, and is titled AMNESTY (I), making it the first album from Crystal Castles to not be self-titled.
The record is set to include the previously released “Frail” as well as “Femen,” which they previewed in a rather upsetting video featuring footage of birds stuck in mist nets. The duo have also announced that they’ll be setting out on their first world tour following the departure of Alice Glass.
