Hellbent on hitting listeners over the head with catchy, menacing music until the message sticks, Boston’s Cousin Stizz continues to tell his city’s story with MONDA. The 14-track effort arrives on the back of four strong singles, and picks up where last year’s Suffolk County left off.

Much like its predecessor, this body of work is a family affair. Tee-WaTT, M. Ali, Dumdrumz, Tedd Boyd, Latrell James, and Lil Rich return to set a familiar but refined tone with soulful flourishes and heavy bass lines. Cardo and Lakim lend the roster of producers a helping hand, and Larry June stands as the only listed feature.

The tape sees Stizz shedding more layers than he had previously. Named in honor of a young friend who died of cancer, MONDA arose from somber context despite the excitement surrounding its release.
