Broderick Batts has more than one speed. On songs like “¯\_(ツ)_/¯,” the Florida native’s lyricism and hard-edged delivery are the focus. Then sometimes he’d rather “write a song that was the musical equivalent of being on Ambien while getting a blow job,” on upbeat melody-driven tracks like “Wavey” and “Kate Moss 1989.” His latest, “Hit It & Quit It” featuring Swaghollywood (with production from Tommy Trillfigga) definitely falls in the second category.
Between the title and not-so-subtle artwork (designed by the talented Dazed Roger), you should have a pretty good idea what to expect out of this one: catchy melodies, blaring bass, and weekend-minded lyrics. Make sure this one gets some play in the car stereo. Listen below.
